Just curious if anybody thinks you can ever have too much rope...

Whoa, I'd be confused.

I like to KISS myself, two climb lines, three rigging, one Wraptor. Obvious retired hunks.

It'd take me longer to choose a rope in the morning than to drive to work if I had all those!:|:

I can never bear to throw away rope. Ive got miles and miles of rope some of it brand new with just a nasty nick right in the middle. I always tell myself I will put it to a higher purpose but mostly it just takes up space.

Kevin, the best way to deal with nicked ropes is to just go ahead and cut them at the bad spot. Then find a use for the short rope. You'll never use it with the nick in it.

That's not very much, Gary could use that in one tree.

hahaha...been there, done that...this one had a high pucker factor...rope was my crutch. And 2 were belay/control ropes...still a LOT of rope.

Beatles lyrics?

"Rope is all you need."

Also, never lend a rope to Stevie Nicks.

There have been plenty of times when I wished I had just a bit more rope, but I can't think of a single time when I thought I had too much.

If I put all mine together I might have that much but it's never all in the same place!

Gary, I pictured another shot of a different tree when Darin said that, looked like you were spinning a web. One of your night ops trees:D

Here, go, Willie...A night-ops tree and a spiderweb tree with the Scouts.

Blinky, time for you to spin some webs, too. :D

Besides all the cordage and slings the pic shows 3 rigging ropes, a 5:1, 1 static rope, 1 120' lifeline, 3 short (60' - 90') lifelines and one dynamic rock rope... there's a good bit more retired in the shed, I can never throw it away either. I hardly ever have it all in one spot so I had to snap a picture of it. I just like rope... go figure.

In the tree I usually have an ascent rope (if my TIP is above 60') plus the shortest lifeline I can get a way with plus rigging.
These are the best spider web pics I have...

Any piece of rope I have out of service goes for cabling trees together. Endless loop with triple fisherman and left slack and just designed to be there in case of failure.

No such thing as too much rope! I mean, c'mon, we're arborists.... ropes play a part in almost everything we do!

It's like a fish saying it has too much water or a person saying they have too much money... haha yeah right!
