DO NOT BUY the Weaver lower spur straps. They are cheap, thin, and flimsy and mine are falling apart after only a few weeks. I called Sherril and was told that was what they sold and was told that mine was the first complaint that person had heard. Oh well.

I called Wesspur and was lucky enough to have Sean answer. We had a nice conversation and he told me that they turned down the Weaver product and that they indeed had the sturdier, heavier duty straps... I think he said Buckingham? Anywho, I ordered a set to replace the Weaver crap that Sherril sells.

The only thing that Sherril has over Wesspur is the speed of product delivery. Wesspur, being where they are, take twice as long but you know what? I think I'm gonna start dealling with Wesspur a lot more now.

Wesspur rulz!

Weaver has such a long an horoable history that I wonder if Sherrill sold you Weevil straps from China. Wesspur is consistently great to deal with.

It was a suprise to me, I tellya whut! As soon as I took them outta the box, I was all like "WTF?"

Yeah, they shouldn't sell crap. Makes them look bad, kinda like the C class Mercedes...

Have to watch everything in these times as all are trying to stay in business by being competitive... Skimp a little here and there, and you can hold a price and keep a profit margin.. Personally I would pay more for a better product that I was already trusting with... if that makes any sense...

Sean told me the name of the heavier material, but it slips my mind. Just make sure that's what they're made out of whenever you order.

Where ya at, Sean?

Nybuck has been a product since the 60's for lineman's pole straps, climbing iron straps and even a tree climbers belt in the day. I think Kline is the proprietary holder on it.

Rubber impregnated nylon strapping in various widths and thicknesses. A set of nybuck straps on your spurs can last 10 years. And they don't stretch.

Foo foo, not.

Thats right Gerry, Those straps are bomb proof and last a long time. Straight leather breaks down to quick although, they conform and are much more plyable than the others.

Greg

Sherrill Is the homedepot of the ind. They get who ever to make a cheeper product an sell it for the same price.

Yup, it's called Nybuck: neoprene impregnated nylon. Both Buckingham and Weaver used to make their straps out of this material, but Weaver switched about a year ago due to a supply problem. It was a bummer fo sho.

I'm suprised Tobe didn't pipe up in this thread when he was here this morning.

Oh wait... no, I'm not...

Yeah, he does seem to target in on threads where his company name is mentioned. Almost as if he's doing a daily Google search or something. ;)

I like the neoprene but actually prefer the lower straps to have a little bit of stretch. A little.

Is that garden hose Burn?

And you just let them hang while in use then slip back over the gaff for storage?

John, it's extra heavy duty garden hose.

No, they slip on and off, held in place by a wrap of the lower strap.

Funny, I like the nybuck strap on the lower and leather on the upper, for a little stretch up there around my calf muscle...with the caddies of course.
