I'm looking at a Cougar saddle that's on sale for a really good price in my area, to upgrade from my split D saddle I have. Search results basically came up that it was a bad saddle and it was a great saddle.

Just curious what the opinions are on it now. I have read it had bridge problems in the past.

With some history behind, any comments on the Cougar now?

Thanks, Peter.

I have owned a Cougar saddle for a year now and the only complaint I have is the leg straps get all twisted up with the elastic straps that hold them in place.
I miss my old Buckingham Traverse, over build but comfy and easy to put on and off.

Decided to follow the advice of the first reply, but I am left to wonder why the "ANYTHING" was emphasized!?!? hmmmm.... at any rate, it's comfortable so far with 25 pounds extra... she wasn't going to let me clip her to the back so we opted for the front.

Chilluns is the most important thing we have...she'll be tagging along in the trees soon I bet.

Glad the saddle is working out.

Anyone have any experiences with this type of webbing bridge?
That's the latest upgraded Cougar bridge, as a matter of fact the Cougar name is now dropped and now called the WLC-700. The Cougar got a bad rap in its early existence with a bridge recall due to a failure and every tree forum on the net debated the poor saddle to death.
I'm sure this new bridge will be just fine.
Mine has the 1st upgraded round one.

Thanks for the info! I traveled to a distributer/sales counter an hour away from me, since they had Cougar saddles with rope bridges on clearance sale to make way for new inventory. They brought out a Medium size for me to try on, I asked a few questions about why it had a webbing bridge, and it's manufacture date, if the webbing bridge was an upgrade due to the recall years ago. The guy was rather short with me, I suspect since he didn't know much about the product. I purchased it at clearance price, still confused about the webbing bridge, not complaining, I prefer it anyway..... long story short seems that they must of placed the wrong product code sticker on the new model saddle......

Climbed two trees today with it, to do some pruning, worked really really well, separate leg straps really make navigating a breeze....to bad I'm not as flexible as I once was....

Good friend of mine rocks one on a daily basis and he likes it.

I still have my weaver, and I really like the webbing bridge, I recently replaced it with a Buckingham webbing bridge, that's about 1 inch longer. I just received from Treestuff a Buckingham ergovation bridge kit, I'm going to "liger" my Weaver, but I'd like the webbing loop drop. I tried it with just rigging plates alone, but the leg straps seemed to ride up too high and pinch the boys. I'm still hung up on my preference for the webbing bridge, for now.
