OK, a silly but maybe interesting question; in what state do you think the overall greatest quality and quantity of treework occurs?

The state that is on my radar more and more as I learn more and more is Mass. Gold plated, hyper-productive outfits like Mayer, Marquis, and Northern call it home, and afaik, more crane work goes on and more tree outfits own cranes there than most anywhere else.

Next, I'm going with Penn, cuz of the Philly area's reputation of loads of huge oaks in residential settings, they grow em big with the moderate climate.

Last I'll go with Cali due to the eucs and redwoods.

100% sure it's not WI. I would say tree folks on either coast are pretty darn good at what they do.

I can't speak for other states. Philly is where I grew up in this line of work and the tree work down there is no joke. BIG trees, big money, big outfits, big machinery. Cory, the oaks down there are monsters, but the tulip poplars would make most men's eyes cross.

LOTS of big screaming tree companies in that region. Crane work every which way.

Ha! I got more trees in my Province I bet than all the states already mentioned..................combined!!!

But we are not talking trees, talkin treework.

Yes, Eric, I was thinking of putting a per capita parameter in there.

That's what I'm talking about;)

I know. Treework. The only idea I have of treework done in other areas is from this very site.

Erik provoked me though.

Define treework, please.

Doing pruning and especially removals in a residential/commercial setting, no logging. Maybe some landclearing too.

I've always liked pruning, but it seems the big money is in removals. Used to be said that big removals meant small money cuz you had to beat your brains out and your back and equipment to get it done. Cranes seemed to have changed that

We've got fairly new guy on the crew, I was talking with him between picks one day about how amazingly easy crane work is. He said, yeah, whenever we do removals without the crane, we're always yelling at each other....;)
