So who uses them? I have a good deal on a barely used (but the wrong color so I'll need to have it painted) one, and I'm considering it. It's one of the better models, sporting carpet, lighting, and an automatic locking (I didn't even know they had that shit) system.

I'm outgrowing my regular toolbox.

Opinions? :drink:

used to have a soft top, didnt like it much. added another box to my truck, doubt youd like it but ill get pics anyway

The hard ones are great!! The locking system is, well a lock, it only really keeps honest people out!
For you, I wouldn't foresee any problems. For someone that plans to haul things, they suck!! You have to remove them to haul a fridge for example.
From what I have seen the are durable, and seem to be very weather resistant.
Matching the color may be a problem, white always seems to kick everyones butt.
I can't talk you out of it, just don't expect it to be Ft. Knox and all will be good!

They work just fine, keeps your stuff in the dry and out of sight .

They aren't like a bank vault door though so keep that in mind .As far as painting them,no problem just use a plastisizer type primer first . For that matter a good body shop could likely do it reasonabley .

The parking lot at work is full of urban cowboy limosines with covers on them . Imagine that,an F-350 dually that only hauls around a set of golf clubs or a Lincoln Mk that resembles a truck with about a 4 foot bed and a cover .

Say it might be a grand plan to get a large lockable tool box to put your goodies too , in addition to the cover . Some bunch of yahoos just recently got 4 saws out of Toms bucket truck when he wasn't home . Any SOB that steals a mans tools should be hung as far as I'm concerned .:X

I had no idea what you were talking about, had to google it.

Ain't that a dumb name? And ain't Google cool!

I'm mostly worried about the theft part. I'm thinking maybe I could use a chain and a lock on my chainsaws. I imagine I'll have an alarm system installed at the same time the cover is installed.

Hmmmmmmmm.

To lock up my saws and other stuff, I'm using cable rather than chains. You can buy plastic coated aircraft-type cable at Home Depot, etc. Its harder to cut and doesn't scratch things up like a chain would. Make sure the locks you use are hardened too.

ive just bought a new pick up and am looking for a cover, cant decide what to go for though as theres so many different options. for the buck lines im going to go for that line-x spray on stuff

I have the line x in my current truck, I dont like it as much as the Rhino lining I had in my old truck. The line x seems harder and less grippy. stuff slides around on it but otherwise it is fine and dandy.

Well 1700 bucks is a piece of change but on the other hand if somebody put the hook on an 066 and a 200T it would cost as much to replace them .

My Ranger just has the soft top which works ok for me because I don't carry tools etc in the truck on a regular bassis . It also has a hard bed liner which has the friction coeffiency of wet ice . The only saving grace is the fact it has slots for spacers and tie downs to secure the stuff from sliding around .

I saved the rubber matting from the other Ranger which I use on occasion .

I think most theives wouldn't try to break in it unless they knew that there was something valuable in there.

which having it there in the first place would probably indicate to them.

i wouldnt store stuff overnight on one, but it would be nice to be able to go toa shop and leave the saws in the truck without having to worry. no ones going to bother it in a busy carpark. if i want to go to the grocery store after work i have to go home first to unload my tools which is a pain.

Mine will be wired into the alarm system.

I lol'ed at the guy trying to break it open...

he was one of those muppers who sits through audition after audition at hollywood no doubt....talentless!

is it much of a job to wire it into the alarm system? and does that mean you have placed an order?:/:

I'm sure it can be wired, but even unwired all the effort to bust it open would set off the car alarm.

No, I haven't ordered it yet cuz I don't have the money right now.

heres my current setup. i hate going to a job to bid without a saw because i can some times do it while im there and save the second trip.
