Well, I did alright today. Bought the pair off craigslist for $100. A wealthy man had them in his garage to have the groundskeeper use on occassion to cut up a fallen limb. He bought both of them a few years ago. I dont really need either so I figured Id buy em and sell them both. The first one just says homelite on top. I dont even know what it is. Runs good.

The second one is the diamond in the deal. 066. Truck loads of compression, rubber mounts firm as ever, fired up immeadiately. Runs strong as a bear.

You have what at first sight appears to be an early model of the Homelite XL-12 .Very popular firewood size saw from days of yore .

I'd be keeping that 066 & getting rid of the 288 lurking behind it. Oh yeah........ I'll give you $250.00 for that 066 !!!

Steve

NOOOOOO. That 288 has been with me thru some thick and thin. I'll never dispose of her. She will get hung on my mantle when her time is over. I like this 066 but I already have one.

Good score! I figure that those type gas and oil caps on the Stihl are a giveaway as to how much a saw has been used. People generally tighten the caps with a too thin screwdriver and the grooves get scared up and widened. Some correlation to how many tank fulls have been run through.

Don't listen to them. Sell it... to ME!!! I'll bid $350!!!

My guys just informed me that one of our 660's siezed up yesterday.

I dont know. I might put it on the shelf for when one of my big saws gets crushed/lost/lent/stolen/seized or decomposes. Anyone got any use for that little old Homie?

The Homelite is a pretty common saw ,not rare at all .I'd say you paid about what it's worth .Although you got the deal of the century on the 066 .

Being the MS661 is suppose to be in service and being demoed in the U.S. right now. Could make those 066 even more of a prize in the future.
