How long do we have before they rework these fine saws. I was thinking of stocking up on a few of each..

I missed out on the 440's. My dealer thought he could get some more but he failed to produce. I do not want that to happen again.

I'd like to know too but things are slower up here. Last time into the sawshop a couple of weeks ago there's stihl a 440 on the shelf. I don't go to the sawshop often. I have a incurable weakness for new chainsaws.

I dunno. I could probably swing through their tomorrow and find out though. I think saws are more expensive up here then down there.

I'll check how many they have they usually have a fair bit of stock. Could be the last one they had though I dunno.

Yeah, I've heard everying from 09 to 12 that all of Stihl's saws will be by then revamped to the 441 design.

Hello,
I was talking to the president of stihl at a landscape expo. He said that they are slowly putting new saws in the market. He said that the 660 and the 200T will be the last out. He also said that the mufflers will not be able to be ported. I own a new 441 and I have to say it is a great saw!

Welcome littlenick!
As for porting mufflers....it can be made more difficult but never impossible(Sheetmetal fabrication just isn't that hard.)

True dat! You weren't supposed to be able to work over the 361 muffler either. :/:

Now that said, I know that Andy (Lakeside at AS) warns that the new Stihl's won't respond as well to porting as the current generation of saws that just need more air. The newer design is a whole new animal that you can actually slow down with too much air.

Andy may be refering to the 441 type design that uses goofy secondary intake ports . I know a few that have delved into attempting to enhance performance on those things but as yet nobody has been successfull .

On the others ,if they are already ported or designed to be at about the top of the game it's hard to squeeze much more out but nothing is impossible .

So you speak german?

Stihl does not have a president.
The last president, Hans Peter Stihl abdicated from the post in 2002 and the Stihl family went on with a board of directors instead of direct family leadership.
The Director is named Bertram Kandziora, and as far as I know, he does not speak english.

I believe I was talking to the president of the USA operations. He had a name tag on and it said his name (I don’t know off the top of my head, I will try and find it tonight) and his position in the company. Sorry if I was miss understood…

Go easy Stig, he's 15. Simple misunderstanding.

Welcome Nick.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about Hans Peter. I got to talk to him last year, when he visited my saw dealer, who is the 2nd largest stihl seller in Denmark ( that was a surprise to me!)
HP was very polite as all germans are, but wouldn't say anything about upcoming models.
I was trying to get some info about whether they plan a renewal of the 260. I'm hoping for a 261 before I have to retire my 6 year old 260,after seeing how much better the 361 is than the old 036, I'm hoping the 260 would get equally better.
