I was on the receiving end of a call and was asked if I wanted to be on insurance adjusters lists of contacts. I say sounds good as ins work is good for biz. Here is the hitch= It will cost to be listed. What say any of you on this? Do you get enough to make it worth while? It still means a bid and such and no work promised, but it (in my mind)falls into the higher dollar bids and money being good. Thanks for the replies;)

I have gotten these calls many times. They pushed hard for me to spend my money, really hard. I figured it was a bunch of BS and i told them thanks but no thanks.

Was this a cold call solicitation or a referral from somebody you know? Didn't you just recently get your license and insurance to go out on your own? I get lots of solicitations from people who get my info from the county through Public Records. IMO anybody who cold calls me pretty much just wants my money and doesn't give a crap about my business or my abilities.

It's no different than Tree Service Direct, they're lead aggregators... which I think is a waste of money. You can contact adjusters directly if you want and it will carry more weight because the contact is personal. The only outfit I use like that is Angie's List because it emphasizes quality of service and the users are dead on my target market.

I wish there was something like this that worked, trees on houses are usually my favorite jobs.

I would tell them that I will pay them as soon as the first job pays me, otherwise they can bugger off.

I had a customer put a referral for me on yelp.com and that's given me a few positive leads.

They called me this year too, I asked if I could call them back after calling a couple insurance guys I know to ask if they use the "red book", story fell aprt shortly there after

Sounds like I can loose the # to sign up. I am not to fond of marketing but would like to set some things in order and Insurance work is always welcome.

Legitimate work is cool, but more often than not it's somebody promising you something in exchange for money in their pocket. See if the offer is legit before agreeing to anything. Willie's method would be a good tact.

Hear that on Willies method. Word of mouth has always cut it before, just looking at and for biz options. Cash coming in is a good thing, more is better in a biz sense;)

If you like the idea of insurance work then just touch base with as many adjusters/agents in your area as you can. Meet them first hand if possible and leave a few cards.
