Has anyone used one of these? I'm looking to move some trail bridge construction materials across a creek. Need a portable efficient lifting device for 1000 to 2000 pounds of lift. Would like to get a grcs or hobbs, but both seem too slow for the amount of rope that needs to be reeled in for every trip across the creek. Thanks for any advice!
 
Brock, that winch has been well discussed here, people get good use from it. I imported one as well. I'm not sure how well it would fit your needs. I have to head off or I'd find the discussions, but it shouldn't be hard to find under portable winches or something like that.
 
Have the 5000. We use it a lot. Paid for itself on the first job. Just have reasonable expectations about it's limits.

Thanks guys! That negative zip line looks pretty close to what I need to do. Looked fairly quick too... Found a good discussion from 2015. Apparently I just needed to spell winch right. I guess it would be good to have a winch and a wench :) Thanks for the videos, quite helpful. Murph I could do the lifting from the campground side of the creek with a truck or skid steer, but the winch would be sweet for the final placements of the timbers. That looked like quite the job by the way... Thanks!
 
They're damn handy. Single line pull is good, but working in some MA really puts some muscle to it. I've had good luck with mine.

If you go this route, make SURE you use low stretch rope. All Poly. Stable Braid and Sta-Set both work well. Anything with a nylon core or three strand can be quite dangerous when you apply significant load. ;)

Butch, could you maybe "sanitize" those threads where the headings are spelled completely wrong?

Even to a non native English speaker " Gas powered wenches" makes for some weird associations.
