I use Bucket and it loads so slow, what others are used and are you happy with them ?

I use bucket for storage, for the really cool pics I find. But pretty much do what you do Butch.

I use photobucket to leach from. Only have to upload them once, and all my pics are there as opposed to scattered throughout the forum.

They aren't, just convenient for me, snot a big deal.

Back when I was in high school, dutchmen approved!

Not all forums have unlimited uploading space, Butch. My fishing forum has a 500kb total allowed upload limit per member. I can upload 4-5 pictures and if I want to upload more next week, I have to go back and delete the old ones.

Or think about sites like TB where it's such a PITA to upload pics. Or other forums where picture uploading is disabled.

I also use Photobucket and it has gotten much worse over the last couple years. Carl doesn't notice since he's on a slow connection anyway, but it's horribly slow considering I'm on a cable connection. Too much glitz and extras loading on the page, all I want are my pictures. No, I don't need the top 1/4 of the page telling me how to create a flash album to share with my friends.

 I know it's slowish, but I figure since I can click the pictures I want to UL in the browse window, it saves the effort of doing it individually. While it's uploading I'm doing something else anyway.

But sure, faster would be mo better. I wonder what the pro version is like...

Boss, a lot of people started using pic hosting sites because the storage was cheaper and it will free up space on your hard drive. It is also a good way to back up what you have on hard drive in case you have a HD crash. It was also an easy way to share the pics as most mail servers did not give you much space to attach pics. And you can store them in higher quality.

I'm with V, love Picasa, especially its newest version, Picasa 3. It organizes all your picture files on your hard drive into galleries separately for you, and all you have to do is click on "Web" and it posts them right to the Web automatically. Saved me many hours of work.

As far as backing up my hard drive, I use MOZY and have been real happy with it. No more time-consuming backing everything up on discs and secondary hard drives all the time.

I use my website to host my pictures and copy links for the ones I find on the web. I figure as long as I'm paying for it I might as well use it.

It was real handy a few years ago when I needed to disappear some pics I posted on a forum. I just renamed'em and the links broke.

I use several - flickr - picassa - SMUGMUG is my main one and i have over 8000 of my photos there.
Photobucket is good also . Some of the sites have limited storage and only allow a certain amount to be loaded in a time frame.

I share a lot of my photos and this way on the public sites they are open to all that want them and are easy to find.

if you just want to attach from the HD is ok - but I have yet to figure out how to have them posted (not as an attachment) without posting them to a site.

hmm

In order to link a picture on an internet forum, it has to be out on the internet somewhere. You cannot link a picture from your personal computer to an online internet page without uploading it.

That's what I'm dissapointed about

Just make sure you backup anything you put on these sites.

I don't remember the name of the site, one of the first big ones.....I'd even paid for their services and they just QUIT. No notice, just went away.

I was p'd off because I'd gone through and listed alot of information about each of my pictures AND I'd just started paying for their services, but there were MANY who were really angry because they were using the site to store their photos, with no back up anywhere else. :|:

That was the first reason I bought my site.....I was selling daylilies on an auction and I needed a reliable place to host my pictures.
