162 was a wonderful saw. Only saw I don't have in that family is the 66.
I ran 18" on the ones I had.

Big brothers 266 and 272 was also great saws!

After a new hose and a carb kit, the 163S kicked over on the third pull. Judging by the hose sludge and whatever else gunk in the tank, it must have sat for years. I didn't really get the tank cleaned out as good as I should, tried various methods but not yet lacquer thinner. It's brown soft goo now if you scrape it with a screw driver, ugly very smelly stuff. Probably best to get it cleaned out before clogging up anything. After the rust gets taken off the bar, it should be good to go. A hearty saw it seems, more compression feeling than what seems to go for a more modern 63cc saw today. More vibrations too....
 
Funny how it is , we get old as the product line changes. Old 180's were badass yet they stripped oiler gears often. I'm sad they discontinued 262's. I think the EPA works against the chopper ...
