i need help finding a crankcase gasket and oil pump kit for a Homelite XL auto oiling chainsaw i been at my local dealer and he couldn't even find the afther market numbers on them.so does anyone know of a place i can find these parts at?any help would gratefully thankfull

Uncle Al might know of some secret supply of antique chainsaw parts. Most of us here are working tree guys so most of our saws are relatively current. I know Kevin messes with old Poulans but I can't offhand think of anybody who has used on old Homelite XL in the last 20 years. They were out of date when I began climbing 25 years ago, even I started out with newer stuff.

Oh ok i'll see if i can get a hold of him and see if he knows anyplace to get them at.I know this little sucker is burning the bar oil somehow and smokeing like a frieght train. But thay is oine thing it's killing out them skeeters here around the house :D

You're talking about those itty bitty little rascals .Homelites answer to a mini Mac .

They have some type of a "duck bill " contraption for the oiler .They worked great when they were brand new and most likely the reason half of them are sitting on shelves today because they won't oil .

I've got the Homelite book but I'm not sure if that saw is listed .I can tell you though E-bay would most likely be your best bet on parts .I'll see if I can find the parts list later on or tommorrow .

Well okay here's what I found out .Evidently this think has an impulse operated piston pump that sits in the right hand side of the oil tank .It consists of a few gaskets,a plunger and a ball check valve and a couple of springs .

It would be my assumption that the ball check is not seating and thus sucking bar oil into the crankcase .The simplest thing to do is just fill the oil tank full of kerosine and run the saw flushing out the gunk in the pump .If that doesn't work disassemble the pump and clean it out remembering how you took it apart so it will go back together in order .

That's all I know I've never had one apart .

Oh ok i'll give it a try.But i hope that the kerosine don't mess the piston and cylinder up.This little sucker has got a spotless P&C on it with no scoring or anything.

Yea i'll do that tomarrow afther i put the bed back on my truck.I had to take the bed off to get to the fuel pump in the tank.Because i thought the brand new fuel pump went back out afther 4 months since i bought it new.And come to find out it was the safty cut off switch in the passinager side floor board that the wires had came loose on it.And i spent all day trying to figure out what it was and traced the wires untill i found the safty kill switch. But afther i plug them back in it took and started right up with out any problem.
