I dunno Butch, could be the rope was tangled in some brush behind and above him and a loop went over him when the brush started feeding. Once the rope hit the flywheel it would have been nearly instant.

Ugg. Always strikes me as odd when details like this come out.

He was feeding branches into the chipper when a rope that had been used by one of the tree trimmers somehow slipped over his neck.

Maybe they didn't have a chipper when they started? I did tree work for years piling brush on trailers and chopping it down with a chainsaw. I climbed for years before ever running a chipper.

Or more probably a misuse of the term "tree trimmer". God forbid a reporter actually fact check anything. Lucky if they spell check.
