My helmet undoubtedly saved my life in a quad bike accident.

Mine saved a mates life once. In the good old days we didn't wear helmets much, and had really great tyres.

He was a bit accident prone. That's how I met him, laying in the same place two nights running. On a trip once he wanted to lead so I gave him my helmet, night time and bit wet and he didn't last long. I came around a bend and he was down sliding head first into a steel guard barrier, I missed his bike but the guy behind went bush. Took a while to find him, still sitting on his bike in a 4ft canal.

Cracked the helmet, and he was out for a bit but ok. He was still around a few years ago amazingly, one of the few that were.

I just heard that my former neighbour was totalled on the road last week.

Coming back from a vacation to Lake Geneva, he was driving along on the freeway when there was road work ahead.
Slowed down to the 80 km/hr that was posted and was hit frombehind by a van going 140 km/hr.
Woman driver was texting and didn't see that everybody else were slowing down.

Shattered pelvis, one leg more or less torn off and a busted arm.

Maybe, and that is a big maybe, he'll be able to "walk" in 1½ year.
He'll have to shut his sign making busines down.
The socialist state that I live in, will take care of him, but he'll still have to start from scratch when and if he gets back on his feet.

DON'T ever let your paranoia down, when riding a bike.
When you slow down on the freeway, look in your mirrors for whatever is coming in from the rear.
That is where he got caught, letting his guard down for a second.

Hearing that story really made me feel sick!

Bob ther is a slight difference to my mind between not paying attention and rear ending a stopped car and being run down from behind by someone who is not paying attention.

But maybe that is just me.

Man. Sorry for your old neighbour. Here it's taught to watch behind for inattentive drivers and also emphasized that it's one of the only times you're allowed to Lane split(it's not legal here) if you think you might get rear ended.

I hope he heals well.

That looks like a cool upgrade Levi!

I'm really chomping at the bit for a bike. Gotta find a deal though. My last bike, a gs750, I got rid of just before I signed up here I think. So twelve years ago or so. I really want to get a super sport 600 but I think I'll get something a little tamer to start back with. Possibly a ninja500 or even their newer smaller 300. Thinking my wife would ride the smaller bike then when/if I upgrade. We'll see what happens.

Ladies look good on ninjas.8)

Paul, I'm not sure but it looks like a good bike for a McQueen flick!

It's funny I grew up on Harley's. My dad was a 'real' biker. I road on the tanks before I could ride on the back, used to fall asleep on there, my dad said that would be a PITA when I did. So I grew up learning only Harley's were real bikes and to never ride any jap crap. Well dirt bikes shot that all to hell.

I love the pure crazy performance of super sport or 'crotch rocket' bikes. Its the only way I'm ever going to pilot super car like performance in my lifetime.

I could only imagine the thrill!! I think I've got a ways to go before I work my way up to a high performance bike, having a ball putzing around for now.

Some friends sometimes stop by my shop on their bikes. I hear them roll up outside. A Harley and a BMW. The Harley is much more enjoyable to hear, basically so is the guy riding it.

It's funny. But I very much enjoy the scream of the inline fours. Harley's can sound good but often they just sound obnoxious to me. Not to mention they are slow as f-ck!

I'm not looking for a bike to please anyone other than myself. So what others like is great for them, but has little bearing for me. :) When on a bike I like performance, to me a super sport is about as pure as it gets for performance.

I'm just a fan of three wheels, especially in that configuration.

I like a trike, but they don't handle worth a shit.

The one thing I can't get past in that three wheeled configuration is that your centre Tire is going to run down the middle of the lane and from what I see they would be harder to avoid crap on the road because of the three tracks.

And you can't lane split.

Sorry for your neighbor, Stig.

I'm paronoid as hell on my bike,
A guy I know was reared ed by a texter...he was making a left turn at a light.

frig that.

Serious life changer.....
