Mass Arborist Exam Advice

Looking to discuss Mass Certified Arborist exam details with someone who is an MCA. I feel overloaded with information on the insect, disease, and tree ID’s and looking to get a better idea of what to expect on the ID section of the exam.

Well I am not in MA so I am of little help but good luck with the test. IMO take the test write down what you know and see. You should get a good idea of your strengths and weaknesses should you need to retake the test. Chemical application rates were a point of focus here in WI.

I took it 10 years ago and basically you can't overprepare for the MA exam. You're going to miss a few questions but that's ok

I live in NH. The late father of arboriculture Dr. Alex Shigo lived and worked in NH and was a member of the
NHAA. He helped in developing the exam and it was/is one of the toughest exams out there. From what I hear, the MAA exam is pretty much the same way.

Use the ISA Example as a guide, even though it's a joke in how easy it is pass it and just study the ANSI BMP guides and you'll do fine.
