This was right on the road below my house. They are working on a wine cave farther up the road. He parked it so they could drive up and examine the road to the site in a p-up truck.

It is electric (forgot what volt) and has a conveyor belt which runs between the tracks and out the end.

The guy told me he was lucky because he didn't get pulled over. The machine, a rotary head boring machine weighs 30 Tons! He said they make them so heavy so they stay in place while drilling.
Made in Germany. This is the smaller unit the company owns :O
I just love checking out big equipment, brings out the kid in me. :)

Cool, wonder what it's used for in that set-up? Tiny compared to what we have here. The Japs are the best tunnel builders in the world, resulting from being a mountainous country with a well developed road system.
Usually they do the big tunnels in different parts of the world now. Starting at both ends, they meet in the middle within a micron, or something.

That is one awesome rig!!! Though I must say, after a second I was looking that truck more than the drill!

Can you say sweet rig!:|::|:

Yes, well away from any valuable structure. Kinda like one of those brontosaurus ROW cutting beasts.

Where ya'tt, John?

I saw one on "Dirty jobs" once. That thing is slick!! The arm with the ball articulates and it will cut out a 14' cave, rounded ceiling and flat floor all in one wack! The lower piece agitates back and forth moving the dirt to the conveyor out the back.
The vineyards like them for making wine cellars to age wine in a temperate environment.

60,000 lbs./ 30 Tons. He said he should have brought the heavier trailer with 3 axles on the back. lucky he didn't get pulled over. Thats a big fine.

I think it would be good for crowd control. Think Soylent Green
