I just made the final payment on my car. I bought it brand new in 2003, traded in my old car (got 11,000 for the Subaru) and financed the rest. The sales guy was not your typical obnoxious, prick car salesman and he gave me the car below MSRP, only 1.9% financing, AND free warranty extension up to 100,000 miles.

That'll be another $150.00 month that I get to keep!!! (except for the new shocks I gotta get on my car...)

It felt good....so I just had to share!

That's cool Nick. Someday I will have my credit cards payed off and that day will be a bigger celebration than any other in my life.

cool nick! my truck will be paid off in a few months, an extra 4-500 a month!!

Hay Nick...I remember that feeling , when i paid off my box trailer.. and never since lol..congrats!

Good job Nick! Now get out there and buy a new vehicle. Its frugal people like you that are dragging down the country. Do your part and stimulate the economy!;)

'03 Honda Civic Hybrid. It's got 101,000 miles on it now. Been completely across the country 4 times in that car, including one trip from Maine to Florida, to the southern tip of TX, then to CA...that was over 5,000 miles right there!

I'd actually love to sell the car right now and get a new car, but I am (like Darin) trying to pay off the credit cards. That's why it took me so long to pay off the 7,000 I financed for the car. With such little interest, it was worth it to just pay the minimums and focus as much $$ as possible on the credit card payments.

For now I'm going to try to get as many miles out of this car as possible.

love
nick

Congrats!

Trick is to pay cash for vehicles. Then just start knocking cash into a "car account" so you can save for the next car.

I am a big believer of buy what wheels you can but with cash, drive, then upgrade. Car debt is BAD debt.

I like having a nice car, but not as much as I like having cash in the bank.

Depends on what you budget for and place value in. Cars are not investments but if you recognize the luxury for what it is and are wanting to drive something why not?

I paid off the loan on the ridgeline this year and promptly went out and bought/borrowed for the 350. No regrets here. I've always really really liked automobiles, but certainly they suck alot of money.

do you need the Ridgeline to tow the 350 out of the grass? I cant believe you can hook the plow to the 350 and make money, whats the deal? Maybe its just a stress release thing and goes like a scared rabbit? :P

Lol, those are just personal rigs the 350 is already off the road. Winter is gonna be long, that's the most exciting car I've gotten to spend any amount of time behind the wheel with and man oh man. I love it! We had a '98 prelude before and it was quick but nothing at all like this car.:D

It's a f350 and the sander is going in the back tomorrow. Lots of buttons to push! You're heading up here this winter? It's easier now no more toll.

I travel Greyhound in the winter, tolls or no I get to town. I have talked to a local fellow about running a skid steer (third hand) during snow locally but heck if there are other offers in the wings.. who am I to dissuade?

Nahh I couldn't make it worth your while this year for a steady job, everything's set-up and I gotta drive my own truck to keep it worthwhile. But I'd expand my plowing if I had a good operator. To easy to fork up a good thing while plowing.

Lol, I could probably get ya on a bobcat though right around the holidays.

The Mercury salesman about chit down his leg when I was going to buy the Grand Marq for cash  I had second thoughts because I saw an economic down turn and financed a little portion of it though .

Working for one of the so called big three I wish I could put the bad mouth on some of the imports but honestly I can't 'cause most of them are well made .
