Even with a crawl space you can have moisture problems .I have a recirc fan running which never shuts off plus two sump pumps and internal drain lines . As of that fact my crawl space is nice and dry .

It wasn't built correctly,flat land with almost no slope relying on gravity drainage .Should have been built up a tad ,crawl at natural or above natural grade. You gotta do what you gotta do .
 
Just curious, never having lived in a house with a basement, doesn't moisture, even with a pump, create mold or mildew problems?

The best solution to any worries in that department is a wood heater in the basement or otherwise. I run a humidifier all winter to keep it from getting uncomfortably dry.
 
Well if I don't run the humidifier I can get static electricity to jump about an inch right from my finger to my wifes nip .You talk about pissed .:lol:
