Anyone have an idea on how I can run a sump pump without house power?

The specs on the sump pump are 120v, 4.1 amps.

Is there some kind of invertor I can run off my truck?

Help Help! :O

I need it right now. Water in basement, no generator. Just want to run the sump pump, will buy generator after shit settles and they are available.

Run it off an inverter. 700 watt inverter is good for 8 amps, so you'd have plenty. Keep the head as low as possible. I've got a couple here, and they were the balls during the 4 days without power. I just let my truck idle with the inverter clipped to the battery.

I found running my 4.0 at idle for 8 hours barely dented the fuel gauge.

I'm coming through early Fri for TCI. I can drop my generator to ya if you still need it.

Zip, zero, nada, Erik. Called for availability, all out.

Husabud, that is very, very much appreciated. The water is more of a nuisance than a priority. I can borrow one for an hour at a time to pump out the bulk, I was thinking of the inverter so I didn't have to inconvenience anyone else and take care of it myself. They say we are getting power back Sunday (yes, A WEEK LATER). By that point the wet can't get any wetter, but thanks for the kind offer!

Sorry, man; that sucks ass.

I can ship you my 700 via UPS; are they delivering there?

I was never planning to hit the expo itself; still up in the air (yeah, cheap pun...) about making it down, at this point. The storm has my yard looking... bad. I still have a maple to clear off the roof, and a host of other things.

Might be worth the time and money to install a battery back up on the sump pump for the next time it happens?

Yes. Is that something that I can rig up myself? Maybe run a solar panel to charge a battery so it'll never go dead?

You still need to get from 12 volts DC to 120 volts AC. In other words... an inverter. Unless you put in a bilge pump for a boat.

You can go as big as you like, but I figure if you have more than 1kgph to move, you've got bigger problems!

Just curious, never having lived in a house with a basement, doesn't moisture, even with a pump, create mold or mildew problems?

It can, that is why de-humidifiers are installed in most heating and cooling systems in homes with basements, at least Kansas and South where the humidity reaches high levels in the summer.
