Slow enough now to spend some time bringing my advertising efforts up to date for the spring.

My brother pays a service (yodel) for leads each month and seems to work ok, but its my limited understanding that you can just pay for ad words and such and get the leads yourself??

I really dont like the idea of paying some entity to charge and montitor every lead they develop. Apparently they track if you are answering all the calls in a timely manner etc.

You guys getting alot of work from online stuff? Trying to get motivated to sort it all out!

Thanks!

not much,
a good web site has been a plus for me,
but online ads and online lead generating services are all bs
do it your self
i got further thru good old fashioned advertising, than the computer

google ad places is free.

Yahoo gave me a sweet deal on a super basic page.

ISA's find an arborist comes with membership.

Then there's Craig'slist is always free.

Xerox Kinkos Doorknockers on trees you want to work on, are pretty cheap.

There's lot's of cheap manners of getting out there, Best way is Good Sound Quality Work. Word of mouth too.

Dunno man, I guess its a little different from place to place but I know of a couple of tree companies that get a decent percentage of work from internet traffic. I just need to figure out how to pay for ad words or whatever to get people to my site.

Guys from a customer stand point here.

When I need tree work above my level of homeowner hack. I looked in local yellow pages first then internet. I just had to go through some water well work to the tune of 2k.
I looked in the yellow and then internet. I even read feedback given by customers on the jobs in the past on companys. It's all out there if you look. Internet is a great tool now days, use it.
The well service I ended up going with was from a town over and put the locals to shame on knowledge of job and pricing job, experience IMHO. I even called them back a few weeks later to give them another 3K in business.

Out here in AZ I do roughly 30 percent referral, 30 percent yellow pages and 40 percent internet. I was slow to get aggressive on the internet but I have had great internet presence for the last two years and my call volume has dramatically increased. Dex online and Yellowpages.com are not cheap, but for this area it has been well worth it for me.

Paying someone or doing it yourself?

There is an end of the year special with one service that handles just about everything with your online advertising and sends you the leads. Due to my lack of efficiency with indoor and office work I am about ready to pay them just to get it done. Things seem a little more complex than I thought.

Anybody set it all up themselves aka website and all then manipulate search engines for traffic? I would rather pay the right person to help me out rather than paying these jokers to manage my advertising.
