Saw this at a garage sale last weekend. Not that I was going to buy it, but I was just curious about the age of it and if the price was in the ballpark. It had a 30" bar on it.

It appears to be in good shape .No doubt that old bone shaker would have the lugging power but I'd imagine it falls under a collectors type of saw.

These series of Homelites were the last of the poplar North American built pro saws before the European models started becoming poplar for pro use around 1970. Homelite introduced this XL design in 1964, turning the chainsaw industry on its ear.
The 925XL you show here was introduced in 1972. This saw was very well designed for the period, 82cc, electronic ignition, 16.5 lbs [weight of a Stihl 650/660] Lots of rpm, well balanced and even had a heavy duty auxillary oil pump button on the rewind side of the back handle. One of my first saws was a Homelite 922XL, good old saw for the day.

Ha every or should I say most Homelites would boil the gas .The one in my avatar does not though .

I've got a couple of Lombards which are a clone type thing of the Homelite XL series and they boil the gas too .

The old Jonsereds I ran in the late '70s did the same on a hot summer day, it didn't affect how they ran though.
My favorite was my 1979 910E, 87cc and super light [15lbs] and fast rpm for a saw of that size.

I saw the same model at a sale here for $25.
If you mean the Homie 925, yes there is more XL series saws out there then any other model of saw. Thats why they don't get a good price, no problem finding parts for them too. Homelite sold millions of those XL series saws.
If you mean the Jonsered 910E I'll pay double the price on it.:)

Well at one time the saw market was controlled by two giants ,McCulloch and Homelite .They both became complacent and didn't mind the store .Now there is no store to mind .
