How do you get rid of ivy?

Thinking I might rent mine out with temp fences if I can work it all out.. Have several customers that might use them. I have a couple gonna buy the babies already for keeping the poison oak down
Maybe they will hire us to install the fence too ... LOL

I've tried the tarps before, but it didn't work. When I took the tarps off after a few months, there was still a bunch of ivy growing under there. It was pretty scrawny and sort of white instead of green, but still alive. I think Ivy is immortal.
