Guys who are slow- do you do any marketing or is it mostly word of mouth plus your website?

If I were doing it again I'd have to invest in more sales and marketing to hopefully take away some of the dips and valleys. On more than one occasion, I'd see work being done at the home of a customer where we'd previously done a clearly excellent job. I attribute such a change to lack of staying in touch with customers, simply waiting for them to call me. Most of the time that works of course but I will guess staying in touch better could lead to 5-10% more work and referrals etc.
