How busy are you this year compared to other years?

How are things going around?

Our last wind in Oly was minorly consequential. One tree split at a repeat customer's house who didn't even know that it happened. She had other work be done.

The "bomb cyclone" that was forecast for Olympia with 50 mph gusts was nothing. Seattle got hit. I didn't try to chase work up there. I'm not set up for that.

I just got my largest single tree contract, both for size and dollars. A huge, half-rotten maple. Only one dead leader, the central and tallest. Might need to triangulate in from above. Its long dead, and good habitat looking at all the holes from cavity nesters. Might have to triangulate into that one from a couple separate trees and one of the living trunks. No access for anything but the mini-loader. Burning brush onsite and moving wood into the neighboring forest. Should be epic.

Getting a few other calls, presumably by referral. Should keep busy enough, especially being short-handed.

Still busy as always. I don’t have the insight into the company that I once had so I don’t really know for sure. All I know is that there seems to be way more work on my weekly list than I can actually do. I’m not catching up. Maybe I’m getting slow.

Finally just put two weeks of work together. Phone is like dead. Pretty much soliciting at this point. On previously scheduled work prior to getting hurt .
They just shut off burn days for lack of rain and air quality. We need those for work now.
The cone of shame is gone. Trying to get word out that we are back at it.
Damn cone of shame makes for a hard sale. TG thats gone now

"I'll just scoot up your trees and get them branches cleaned up" .... says the guy wearing a neck brace. Not a good PR move. Might as well sell car ins.
Weird how even a different climber makes them nervous.
Tell some I brought a climber in to work with us, had a couple just say, well, let me know when you are doing the work again. It'll wait.
If I did not think a guy I hire could do the job, I would not be talking to them.
Kavey is doing a fine job of it thus far. Especially considering he probably works way more conifers than spread out canopy hard woods.
Feels good educating him about our flora here. He met a Coulter Pine and cones the other day. He has a collection for his kids going.
