How about one of these?

Not disagreeing at all, but is the material handler derated for working in that position or is it personal preference? I noticed it had pullies on both sides of the rope, so I figured it was rated for such.

Brendon likes to post pictures of Thomases moving those quaint, delicate pieces. Here's from two Fridays ago:

If you rare up the mini going up the ramps into the trailer, the Kohler gas engine converts to an oil burner:

Yes it is derated. And it simply isn't worth the hassle since once I'm upside down I cannot easily bring the load within 30' of the truck and I cannot reach the control levers and it is probably stressing my boom and turret a whole lot more than I would like. So I simply do not run the winch with the boom flipped over. I can let out 100' of rope and drag a log closer to the truck if it is too far away for me to get over it.

Yeah, makes sense.

Here's a Metavic loader/trailer. The loader is $21kish, 21' of reach, ~800lbs there, 1klbs at 18' I think.

If my equipment was burning that much oil in a particular maneuver then I would probably change my game plan rather than continue to damage my equipment.

 Brendon. Scott and I were enough counterweight to slide it across the yard without damage. We ended up cutting off a slice to get it up the ramp.

No damage involved, Brian, although I try not to make it a habbit.

My prior boss had a Metavic and I cant speak highly enough of it 10,000 lbs integrated winch we use to trolley things from all over the yard right to it. This one is smaller and light weight but not worth the money IMO. I would buy one of the Metavic's Canadians know there stuff when it comes to making those;)

Carl- Yes, but I don't like using the winch when flipped over because I'm too far away from the pedestal and it is way too much leverage on the boom and base.

Word on that Brian Im in the same boat except I load mine into my one ton f350 I dont like to stress my life support platform.

I haven't heard about Canadian gear, but I do hear that they make some awesome log loading equipment in Scandinavia. Seems to be favored over here.

yes no highway on the berco its life is usualy behind a polaris 4x4 for farm work. I have going to build my own till the price of steel went through the roof.

and a log arch for horses in the same pic if I were to go that way I want a walking beam instead of the torsion axles.offer 7000 no higher than 8500.

Doubt it does, 7k spring axles most likely, much cheaper. A dump bed could be modded in pretty easy. Course it would be just as fast to unload with the loader. I would opt for solid sides for debris. Use a short log to "sweep" out the loose stuff.
