I used to fish Sebastian all the time. That area on the south side is also called the monster hole (for good reason). Some of the biggest waves I've ever seen in the Atlantic after a hurricane there several years ago and the surfers and jet skiers were right in the middle of it. The jet skiers would time the wave running at top speed up the face and go what looked to be forty feet in the air, come hurtling back down in a giant splash, and disappear under water in that monster hole. The current in that inlet runs so hard on full and new moons I always said I believe you could tie a ski rope off to one of the bridge pilings and stand in one place and water ski. Some fabulous snook fishing there at times too. I'll check out the trail of the whites, thanks V.

I hear you Ray.
I have a friend who's wife sister (tenuous I know) got a dream job as a marine biologist, anyway she was snorkling one day and was attacked by a leopard seal, dragged to the sea floor and drowned.
You might ask what is the point of the story? Probably that being killed by a large predator in its own environment is certainly in the top 3 of the ways I don't want to die.

Bad deal for sure. It's got to be in the top one for me!

John caught many a snook there. As for the waves, I can remember a surfing contest...I saw a guy surfing and did not realize it was my brother...holy smokes, he was ripping it up.

Big fishy coming for the captain next, they need a bigger boat, and more bars. I don't see Chief Brody with a scuba tank anywhere. They are all doomed!

I was joking in that post but a shark took a bite at my mates boat once, made me think about things a bit differently.

Couple of encounters with boats down the coast in the last couple of weeks.

If that works there's an ad first or it's in the link as well.

A recent study shows that Great Whites are increasing like crazy after a long decline. Particularly off the east coast of the US, I believe.

The number of sharks in general in the Gulf of Mexico has increased many fold in the last few years. Shrimpers here seem to be fighting a losing battle. When they pull the nets to the surface so they can dump the bags on deck, the sharks just eat them up, trying to get the fish and shrimp trapped in the net. The crews sew on heavy duty chafing gear but the sharks eventually eat right through it. When they shovel the trash fish overboard it's like a school of giant piranhas. You wouldn't want to fall overboard off a shrimp boat here.
