Google maps and Google Earth are different. Maps is done by land camera, Earth is a satellite composite that includes elevation.

Good point there, satellite resolution is OK but I like the Windows Live Local much better, which is aerial photos.

Damn, no doubt. Thanks for the tip.

I just got a call from an old customer. He bought another house over in Titusville and he needs me to go cut down a big dead pine. I looked it up on Google Earth and was able to get a picture of the house and tree without driving 100 miles round trip to go look at it. The pine beside the driveway as well as the 3-4 smaller ones beside it are dead.

Looks like I can flop it across the drive with just a hammer and wedge. Looking from different angles it isn't leaning toward the wires, and with the ground level well above the driveway it looks like I can bridge over the drive without cracking it. All these things make a huge difference in bidding the job but you can't get a customer to 'see' that stuff for you.

I'll probably bring my bucket truck anyway, along with a buddy's dump trailer. I can drop most of it right into the trailer and use the boom winch to load the logs.

I don't like using driveways for any type of a LZ. I'll usually find another way to do it.

Blinky, that worked till I tried to upload it, then it said bmp was invalid. I changed it to jpeg but that didn't work either:|:

Tomorrow.. I continue a trim on a valley oak that was fire scorched. Lost about 1/2 of it's canopy. I took about 50 percent of the dead wood last year and gave the tree time to settle the weight. Now going to take the other 50 and trim it up as best I can by just dead wooding this year. Next year see how it is doing and start on what is branching where. Blue lines are the points I left. All above is gone. This property has been hit twice by fire in the last 5 years. It is in a high risk and traditional fire zone. The Hwy below it does not help matters.
I'll take some before and afters tomorrow.... I'll take suggestions also...

Just click a couple times on the pic to enlarge I screwed up the file.

This thread is tre cool.

Back in the day I didn't have this stuff. When I got a call last week, while they were on the phone, I pulled up google maps and street view.

I love it!!

Home of Mr and Mrs Beckham, wonder if we'll get a tip at th eend of the week

Two days at this place again.
Already took the oaks down over structures and a pool circled in red. Did some brushing at the third house up top of the photo.

Now going to remove an oak (circled in blue) and brush out that oblong area in blue also. Going to have to get creative to have a high line for the oak. Thing is about 1/2 rot. Should be a fun couple of days. Really nice clients also. Whole retired family lives there and takes care of each other. :) Three houses.

Fixed...
