Function of chain pitch?

After thought here ,might be on to something . Way back when Oregon made some skip in 1/4chisel and it cut to beat the band on little saws . I can't help but wonder if in fact something like that in skip might be the hot ticket . You can get .325 in chisel but not that I'm aware of on 3/8" low .
 
On Chips saw, you also have to figure in the chain is narrower and shorter, it takes smaller "bites" than the 3/8". If you were to port that saw, it might come more to life with the 3/8" chain. I've toyed putting 3/8" on my ported Husky 350, the cost doing it has been one reason, and it's iffy if it's going to be an improvement in cutting speed or not. It's iffy at best.
Stock, on a 50cc, or smaller saw, no question, I'm running .325, I don't even much care for 3/8 lopro myself, seems somebody invented something to fill a gap that isn't there. 60cc and up should be able to handle 3/8" easy enough.
