Warning: Nothing revolutionary.

If any of you have the Asplundh style man-cabs (mine is an old A unit), and hate that big step to the ground from a narrow door, loaded with gear, and vice versa, a simple but good piece of gear is a small step stool that can be thrown into the stairs, upside down or however, when closing up the door when finished loading, and pulled out first thing (cones right behind, from the water cooler bracket).

I bought something like this... at Lowe's for $15-20

but was at Ikea today and saw this for cheaper, and its more compact, but only one step...

The taller one would probably be useful for reaching into the engine compartment for a repair/ maintenance. I stand on my bumper and winch frame to add oil, etc, otherwise the step stool would be helpful.

I thought of getting an RV manual slide out type step for a while, but never got around to it, meanwhile I was struggling unnecessarily with that first big step, like 18" I'd imagine. I thought it would be more out of the way, etc, but ultimately was harder than getting a step stool.

Its easier with a lightweight step-stool, and it took me a bit to find a good one that fit, and fit the need. Over time, I imagine it will save an injury or two. I know that I snagged my jacket on the door handle, which through off my stride getting out of the cab with gear, no injury but a close call. I'd have to use the pull handle to get up and in, so couldn't carry gear in both hands.

Maybe it will be a useful idea for one person, or maybe everyone has beaten me to the punch with this simple idea.
