I got a carb kit to install. Never done it.

Likely be a silly question, should I use carb cleaner to clean the carb as best I can when I rebuild. I thought somewhere I read to use brake cleaner to soak a carb.

I have the diagram from Cut4Fun's repair site to guide reassembly, and Andy's link to Madsen's for getting it running. http://www.smaf-touseau.com/planche/?id_document=38
http://www.madsens1.com/saw_carb_rebuild.htm

What do I need to know about dis/reassembly of the carb and adjusting it?

I'm concerned about it running to high and blowing up.

Been a long time since I even adjusted a carb with a tach, now I don't have one.

When you put it back together, screw the screws all the way in, then turn each of them out 1 1/2 turns, this will get it started. Tune the L jet to get it to idle and rev up without stalling or studdering.
Then you can start on the H jet, with the saw reved up slowly screw it in until it sounds like a lawnmower screaming, then changes pitch suddenly. When it changes that pitch, screw it back out about 1/8 of a turn. Read the link I sent you, and listen to the sound files they have on the site. You can hear the saws changing pitch, then they richen them up.

Nothing to worry about, Sean. After all, it's a 192, how bad could it be to blow it up anyway :P.

The info sources you have, and Andy's good advice will see you through, no worries ;).

Not the best video, not the brightest guy, and not how I really do things, but he gets it right in the end and the tags explain things as he goes. Gives you an idea of what you are listening for and when it's wrong. Do all of this, then go fine tune it in some wood, it still might not be quite right in the cut after all of this.

Good info.

I don't want to be one of the guys that the shop guys laugh about, if I have to take it in, the one that is trying to save a buck by doing it myself, and screwing it up, like some homeowner with the tree on the house.

I'm learning. Really good to have a video/ audio to go from. Seems very feasible.

Thanks!

You aren't going to screw it up now .Get with it,you aren't going to learn any younger .

You don't need a damned tachometer either .Good grief !

How do people get lean seizures? I thought it was from setting the Hi adjustment too high and they ruin the piston and cylinder.

I bet you don't need a tachometer, but for not really understanding it all, I don't want to pull a FNG/ Rookie move.

This is the first carb I've removed from saw and opened up. The only other carb I've worked on was on my chipper. That was a learning experience. I don't have anybody here to learn from, so I appreciate everybodies' help.

I replaced the diafragm, the filmy thing and most of the little parts. The didn't give me the right carb kit it happens, so I have an extra diaphragm, some triangular metal bit that doesn't go on my carb, and couldn't switch a little metal thingy that looks like half of a tiny metal hollow capsule.

Seems like it worked. I didn't adjust the idle, hi or low adjustment. I just need it to cool a bit and see if it will start on Run like it should.

We'll see how it goes.

Can't wait to get Andy's 200T!

Next thing to learn myself is to splice.

Anyone have a link to Madsen's site for tuning a chainsaw. I know Brian has it . I had it at one time but lost it in the last computer crash.

Basic initial carb settings are one turn out for the H and L screws.

Thanks Brian, hopefully I can save this one for a long time. This link to me is the best for tuning a saw carb. No video but it takes it step by step and with the audio you can hear what a saw should sound like.

The Poulan guy did ok I guess but he was driving me nuts with that warm up thing.
