I really hate the pull out/twist style throttle on my chipper. Somehow I messed up this rubber piece and now it doesn't stay all the way out. Usually some time down the road I see people just use a pair of vice grips to hold it WO.

I really like the Bandit style (see pic below). Am I correct to assume it will work as a replacement for my current setup? As long as the hole is the same diameter, I just have to adjust it for the full sweep on the handle. Right?

Just want to make sure I'm not missing something.

I was under the assumption that you never twisted it, only pulled it. I was told doing that damages something.

90% of it can be pulled, but to get the last couple hundred RPM's, it needed to be twisted and set.

I really don't know, maybe your right. I was pretty sure it had threads, because it twists in and out.

It should work just fine. I went through about 6 or 8 of those twst/pull/twist style thingys before I finally switched. Never had any trouble after that.

Some of them had a push button in the center and some you twisted to loosen/tighten.

Push the botton in, pull out, twist to idle down. Either way, I agree it's a gay system.

There's no reason that setup can't work, B. If the cable fits in the current bracket (at the govenor) then it's all the easier. Let me know if you got any questions.

My question is, how much did it cost? My chipper has the push, twist, and shout setup, and I'd love to get rid of it.

Mines got the push button, and it threads, still sucks.

Carl,

Online they are showing $130. I'm going to check local as that same place wanted a lot for yoke springs when I was looking, but it's the only place that shows prices.

Brett,

Does the throttle stay in the middle if you wanted? Looks like it has a spring to keep tension on the handle for doing so.

Brain fart. Bandit at work has this throttle. I can inspect tomorrow.

Ah. I warm the grinders up at part throttle, now that I think of it. I'm not scared of wetting, but they run smoother just above idle.

It will pretty much stay where you put it, but I would adjust it so that at full hrottle it's in the detent. That way it won't vibrate down while chipping. Its OK if if doesn't go all the back to the other detent at idle.

Did you call Carl a winch? :/:

Brendon, I'm pretty sure I have one of those push button thingys at the shop and I might even have the lever style. I can check for sure tomorrow. If you want it, let me know. You can have it cheap. I sold both of my Bandits and the Morbark uses an electronic speed control, so I don't have any use for them at this time.

Sure Brett.

Lemme know on the lever style, don't really want another push button.

I'm just thinking I might need more than just the lever and cable, probably those little connectors at the end in the pics above.

Not sure you'd have that too, but I have an alternative in my head.

I'll let you know tomorrow if I have one. You can get those connectors as well as the cable at Napa. As for the lever, you can build it yourself if you can do a bit of bending and cutting. It's a very simple mechanism.

Brendon, in regards to the picture in your first post. I am interested in your cataloging method for your belongings. Do you tag and catalog all items, or only major stuff? What is your cataloging system? Also do you the remove the tags when waxing said items? Thanks.

I have a pull cable on my chipper and it has never been a problem. Stays wherever you put it. I also have one on my truck to speed up the motor to run the boom. It also works OK but is pretty new.

Leon,

When I discover something needs waxing, I'll put one of those tags on with the date that it was discovered. I will only allow it to go a few days without taking care of it, unless its very busy. The tag comes off when the machine has been waxed, and get's stored in a folder with the date, time, weather conditions, details of the procedure, and type of waxes used.

I'm totally lying.

Personally I think that is very unsafe to have stock which is not rotated and then condemned after 3 months of storage. Also, after 1 month the wax needs to be re-done.
You should be ashamed :|:
