I want to throw this out there for other folks. Buy one. My wife grabbed me one on sale last spring. They arent cheap considering its only a sweatshirt. I wear this thing as a coat. So look at the price as a price for a coat. Its heavy like a horse blanket.

I dont like wearing a coat while i work. Most are too bulky and hinder mobility for me. This thing wears like a sweat shirt and insulates like a coat. The elastic band by the waist doesnt shrink up tight over time and try to ride up your stomach and back. It has 3 button snaps at the neck to let a little air in if need be. Ive been sitting on the wood processor for days at a time lately in 17 degrees, high humidity and moderate winds. I wear a turtleneck, a flannel over that, and this sweatshirt and am as warm as with any quality coat ive ever owned. It only shrinks a whisker in the wash too.

I used to like arbor wear , however one of the guys that works for me got a pair of "Tech" pants for Xmass. Literally first day he wore them to work they tore, called arbor wear and they told him they would charge him to repair them??? REALLY. First day they rip and they won't stand behind there product...Dont think I will be promoting their clothing anymore.

Ive had a a fair amount of their products, never had a lick of trouble. A lot of guys I know wear their clothes and Ive only heard them rave. The incident you describe is the exception, not the rule.

Ive ruined clothes on day one also. Its clothing, not kevlar.

He should ask to speak to a manager. Could be peon in Customer Service that is only doing the basic of what they are told. Was it a seam blow out, or hung up on a sharp object, or...?

Thats why I didnt give that story much credit. Too many variables. Im not knockin Paul, or doubting him. Im thinking that snafu could have ended differently.

I've been wearing Arborwear for years and live 20 minutes away from them. The product is good, but the prices are outrageous. They have definitely gone way mainstream over the years. They still have a tree background, but it seems less prominent every year at the sales. I only get stuff during their spring and fall sales.

The people working there are really nice and I see a few of their workers out at the local bars ever once in a while. Nice people. I'm sure they would help you if given another chance.

As for wear, I get about the same mileage out of a pair of arborwear pants compared to a pair of carhartt pants. I've had a few pairs of Arborwear pants rip way too easily though. Every pair seems to develop a hole is a different spot than the others. lol

I have 2 of the double thick hoodies.......never wear them..... just too bulky for wearing while working. The snaps on the hood always grab my facial hair too, that never feels good. I still wear some of their products but not as much as i used too. I think the company went downhill since the original owner sold out.

I've got a hooded one, never wore it for work yet but worn it out and it's nice.

I wear the same pair of tech pants all week, still kicking.

I have one, but I don't use it for working. Way too hot to fall trees in.

But it is the cat's ass for wearing during lunch break:)

4*F this AM, my climber loves his. It got a little hole poked in it last week from barbed wire, I thought he was gonna cry!

Those tech pants are strong, I wore a pair for about two years straight,
just now retired them after getting hit with a thrown chain around my leg.
Tore them up. Oh well another pair to go...

I had one pair of regular Arborwear pants many years ago. All they talked about was the double tough crotch and how the crotch wouldn't rip out like lesser pants. I've never ripped out the crotch of a pair of pants in my life, but my Arborwear pants wore a hole in the crotch in less than a year.

Later I bought two pair of tech pants but they felt like wearing $70 plastic bags, I was drowning in them with sweat and heat. Sold them to someone on the forum here after wearing them once.

For sweat shirts I prefer ones with zippers up the front. Our cool mornings and warm days aren't conducive to pullovers.

Hoodies all the way here in the winter. Though the only arborwear thing I have had is a shirt someone sent me once, carhartt is available local

we used to order double thick sweatshirts from Karl Kummerling...perfect for winter, and basically the same thing as the Arborwear ones,

I have an Arborwear zip up one that I wear all winter long, my only complaint is that the hood is too big.

I have two pair of the Arborwear tech pants with a "W" on the inside label for 'Work'.
They are stained all over and see heavy use every work day (trees, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical).
I also have two pair of Arborwear tech pants with a "D" on the inside label for 'Dress'. (label markings were only needed for the first few weeks - can't mistake them now!)
They are reasonably cool in our summer heat and with long poly underlayer they work well all winter. I watch for sales.

Conifer pitch comes out with the CitruSolv cleaner added to the wash; makes them look new until the heavier grease and work stains set in.
I have one pair of the black ballistic cloth-kneed stretch tech pants and they have held up well so far.

I found I got little use out of the original cotton Arborwear pants before they were toast and soon switched over to the Carhartt canvas pants which I use for Fall/Spring wear.
One of my contract climb companies gives me a Karl Kummerling double thick hoodie at their annual holiday breakfast and I wear that as an added layer for super-cold days.
I keep my SOTC hoodie for clean, casual wear since it is a nice design (Thanks Willie).

Are the KK ones same price or cheaper? Do you still go with the KK ones?

I got a corporate account set up with arborwear a few years ago. Makes it easy get stuff for a great deal. I still have 3 pairs of tech pants that are 6 years old. They saw everyday rotation for 3 of those years. Now I wear them around the house or in the shop. Wore the color out of one pair as well.
