I just calculated mine, .008%. There is a Chicagoland tree care company around here that has to clear 1 million a month just to cover overhead. I can only imagine what their advertising costs are.
 
I had t-shirts made up last year that I wear all the time (except on Carl's job);), and I hand out cards. Other than that I have no advertising. Mine's mostly word-of-mouth. After 26 years, folks know I'm in the business. Oh, I do have signs on the truck. I've gotten a few calls from them.
 
How is that possible?

We dont do residential and we market. Yeah, we do 1 year to 5 year contracts. Total inventory and specs per year. Plus some of the bid requirements are a ISA Cert Arb, and being a TCIA Accredited. Basically, chose your market.

Seems like a matter of semantics. Isn't marketing akin to advertising? Do you spend money on marketing?
 
If we do a residential job, its usually because its part of an HOA or someone we know.
Yeah, gotta pay for marketing,
