    Wire rope gripper?

I said that, too...thought it was a joke. But it seems to be a real thing...who'd a thunk???

And I have already considered where to mount the scuba tank inside the cab...JIC....:D

Cool, Carl!! That's one of the best examples of using logs I have seen on the webs...thanks for posting.

And Ohio has some of the worst mud I have ever been in. We used to have martial arts camps at Strouds Run in Athens, Ohio...there was a particularly evil sticky mud that appeared when it rained there...different from our GA mud.

I have seen that one and lots of others  That's what has me skeered....lol. I do not want to be "that guy."

I don't even have any gay mats yet but I'm already in love with them. Just the idea of something like that that is so strong and can support and hold me gives me the warm fuzzies.

The ones I saw today were very simple but worked:

    Wire rope gripper?

Yes...I saw references to it and just googled it...makes sense. I saw an Asian excavator rescue video today -- one stuck...bad...another used logs as a road to get the stuck one out.

I don't know whether to laugh or say, "Wow!!!" Crazy stuff...picking rockETS out of the ground. I thought you meant "rocks"...nope.

Good input. The mini ex has 5# ground pressure according to the specs. It SHOULD be hard to get stuck. Cool on the cross ties...I read about that idea in a PondBoss forum.

Alex and I have discussed that idea a little bit. Considered using that cable he's got as the connector rather than threaded rod. Not sure how difficult that would actually be.

    Wire rope gripper?

I may have to start watching Asian excavator rescue videos. The ones I've seen are crazy crazy. They do some interesting stuff over there... Maybe they use bamboo. But I don't think bamboo is going to be rigid enough for a mat. I think it'll destruct.. all mats I see on videos are rigid.

Thanks, Al...appreciate the input. I wish you lived down near the farm...I have toyed with the idea of flying you down there and hiring you to help resurrect an old D7 dozer. I'll start a different thread about that.

LetsDig18 has a huge number of videos...many of them cover what I'll be doing at our farm.

Wow! Brilliant! (I really do like the idea.) We rent our 20 acre field to a big outfit cotton farmer. I may need to forego that and start raising timber bamboo instead!! My wife's gonna kill me.

Nah...money is an object. I don't think we're debating, just getting ideas from folks and learning stuff. Goo is going to be unavoidable at some point. Mud mats will most likely be used...found this video last night...shows well how useful they can be.

10-4 on another machine. The rescue videos I have seen always involve other machines. I mainly need to get the ex down there and get some hours on it to get a feel for how nimble and self-helping it can be.

That is interesting. Rope is certainly easier to handle than cable.
