    Seasoning wood so it doesn't warp, check or crack. It's a whole science all in itself. Very species specific, and Eucalyptus being a particularly cantankerous species, I hear.

    Prices here are close: $350 oak, madrone and euc, $250 for fir and pine. $175 -200 for redwood and cypress Redwood is used mostly for kindling stock.

    Fresh fallen (green) E. globus (bluegum) I can split with a 6 pound maul. Generally without problem, unless they're really big, but even small there are some tough ones that I had to rip with the saw to get them apart, even green. Cross-fibered grain like a helix. Here's my wood pile" Bishop...

    Talk about "hard" wood. After Euc dries out like that it is practically impossible to split by hand. It'll even stall a splitter. E. globus specifically.
