I'd replace the whole thing, the next one will last you until retirement. IMO if the devise has taken enough of a beating to break in one spot what's to say it is not fatigued in another waiting to break. Porties are cheap considering how long they last.

Thanks for sharing! Looks like it has been cracked for a while before failure so I'm guessing "that one time" was the beginning of the end. Long hard life I am sure.
