What's your year been like, business wise?

Hahahahhahaha I'll build some stuff and start a thread. Hopefully i can make some easy low risk high profit stuff happen. Anything to be able to claim welding gear since the tax exemptions are gone.

What's your year been like, business wise?

They were actually calling for welders in billings right now, was toying of going because the wife can see her friend in Bozeman, but i think I'll be back to pipeline later this month hopefully. I had forgotten about grills, maybe start making catering equipment. I knew a guy who would make a...

What's your year been like, business wise?

 And you are right Jim, in comparison to farming, pipeline welding rigs are cheap. That's not what they are paying for tho...

What's your year been like, business wise?

Oh, i assure you, i don't do cheap. If I'm showing up with 100k of truck, tools, and experience, I'll be paid accordingly. In time, i wouldn't mind starting my own pipe company, but I'm no where near liquid enough to start playing that game.... a handful of union members here have done just that...

What's your year been like, business wise?

Good tips there Bob, thx. I'm not aware of any quarries here, maybe some gravel yards. I probably could try to get going with some farmers too. Thx man

What's your year been like, business wise?

Robert, thx for the idea, but fire grates should be cast iron, so they stand up to the oxidation of a fire. Car springs are awesome to use to build stuff, i use them for wedges because they are very high carbon steel, which also means they don't like welds very much. Yeah Sean, i think I'll...

What's your year been like, business wise?

Lol Cory, it's not like i didn't want to do trees, i just didn't have time. Still gonna load up on equipment this year if i can. I have a messy 2 stall garage, and that's about it until a bit down the road and i build a pole barn. If need be tho, I'm rural enough to slop up a tarp building...

What's your year been like, business wise?

Well that will help come tax time. Anything you used, you can write off at least a percentage. Get a tax guy, and start enjoying what owning a business actually does for you. Which reminds me, i need to start a welding side business to help recoup those costs, and develop a plan c for when work...

What's your year been like, business wise?

The only way you could lose some net Robert is if you rented/bought equipment or paid guys more than you made. Otherwise you just worked for really low dollar per hour. Personally, i had the best year of my career money wise. :) next year should be dramatically better yet!!! No trees tho...

What's your year been like, business wise?

You are probably right about that. I had several years of fun, but I always wanted a family someday. So now I have a different kind of fun. It's all relative to one's life goals and perceived direction.

What's your year been like, business wise?

I was the same way for a long time Stig, now I jokingly tell the wife "if i knew kids were this fun, I wouldn't have pulled out as often when I was younger..." I then duck, because the wife will have invariably thrown something at me

What's your year been like, business wise?

Lol yup, watching a kid that now runs, throws stuff, climbs, and considers herself an electrician is actually hard work! Don't ever tell my wife that tho, she'll be assuming that duty x2 here shortly :/:

What's your year been like, business wise?

I didn't do too much with my micro tree service this year, but what I did was good. Had my first kid born last December, stayed home and helped with that last winter, working here and there, worked about a month straight, then asked for a layoff so I could hit an outage before the summer work...
