    The last batch of spliced slings I made, I had difficulty milking the final bury due to a torn rotator cuff. So I used a ratchet strap as a come-along and rigged each sling one at a time between two poles in my carport. Then I could milk the splice, then tighten the strap, then milk again...

    If you want to use braided line then don't forget to check out any place that sells fishing tackle. Braided fishing line is the same thing, and 1 roll will last you forever.

    That is a 3/4" double braid polyester. Not sure exactly which one. It's an old rigging sling.

    Here's a splice I did probably 10-12 years ago using Zing It 1.8mm as my whipping thread.

    Actually I had some old Zing It 1.8mm line which began tangling on me a few months after I bought it. I replaced it with Zing It 2.2mm and ended up using a bunch of the old 1.8mm line for whipping on my rope splices. It worked great. Later I just bought whipping twine from one of the arborist...
