It's been quite a storm. I've been in Ft Bragg since 1971 and this is the 3rd time I recall having snow of any amount. People have no clue how to drive in it and not enough sense NOT to drive in it. Hwy 101 is still a mess with stranded cars, trees falling like crazy and power lines down...
The storms have been fierce here. Heavy rain for a couple weeks, big seas, thunder and lightning, and the winds are scary when you live under a lot of trees. We have big branches down all over the yard and 1 rotten tree fell in our driveway. A local lady died a few nights ago when a tree fell on...
We'll be watching it for a very long time. It takes all the courage I can muster up to walk into that patch of woods. It's the exact spot where we regularly hear the mountain lion screaming from in the evening and early morning. :big-shifty:
NOAA says it will be 71 in Ft Bragg today. That's rare for the coast in February. It comes with a big red warning for fire danger. That's scary, but true, it's pretty dry here. We had a fire on our property that we didn't notice for days. Our landlord had done some burning about 10 days ago...
Sean, no snow here on the coast. The weathermen lied again. They warned we would get 4 inches at sea level. We are at 267 ft and had about 30 minutes of slushy rain. It snowed about 10 miles east of us. It's very rare to have snow here, but exciting when it happens. My brother in Juneau has...
Have you had any smoke from the 3 big fires, B? I suspect you will when the wind changes. Those 3 fires, all in the northern most part of California are scary big and grew extremely fast. The temps up there have been over 110 for several days and enough wind to accelerate the spread. 2 are...
Beautiful on the coast today. The usual sun in the morning and fog in the afternoon. Over the hill from us will be in the 90's and 100's the next several days. Combine that with a 3 day weekend, the official kick-off of camping season, and the multitudes of city folk arriving and we can be...
My brother lives in Juneau. He's had it with the snow and temps this year. He's leaving for Puerto Vallarta in a couple weeks to warm his arthritic bones and doesn't plan on returning to Juneau till July.
Sitting here listening to the sound of rain drops outside. Finally! Unfortunately, the forecast is for around a quarter inch over the next 3 days. That isn't going to help the dry wells at all, but we'll take whatever we get!
