From some vids about mechanical failures in cars, it seems that that's what some people do: the oil pan is full of hightly viscous purée or even hardened jelly.
For the record, even if I can grossly exagerate the spacing at time, I put only dedicated mineral oil in my crankcases and gear boxes.:D
Canola oil, 1 liter bottle, food grade at the supermarked, bought by a box of 15 (no discount). It was the cheapest in small quantity and used to be around 5$ per gallon. It's at least 25% more now.
I still prefer it for my respiratory system, even if it's less than optimal for the saw.
