Not sure about cottonwood specifically, but poplar is used on saunas I’ve heard.
That’d be a serious cash crop if it was strong. I don’t think anything very fast growing makes for strong lumber. They’re like weeds. Big tall stinky dandelions.
Chicken wings are kind of a big thing here. I work with two guys that splinter the bones and eat/ suck the marrow. Kinda disturbing to witness, I’d have a bloody mouth.
No real work pics, but the weird ladies next door to the job made sure to let me know that they were burning sage for my protection and safety. Kinda freaked me out, I felt safer before they started talking.

So far, the longest and hottest burning stuff I’ve found locally is honey locust and some cultivars of it. According to the green log weight chart, it’s about as heavy as I’ll find in my area, and it doesn’t lose much weight after it’s seasoned. Super dense stuff.
Nice getting some tree work in before a 12 hour shift. Knocked out a couple crispy dead ash with Frankie and his buddy, and still had time to get Maddy home and for a haircut, shower, and nap.
