    It seems like most of Eastern Europe burns beech. Apparently beech bark is great kindling.

    My rez buddy over east does that too. He splits mostly ash...but occasionally cottonwood too. My Stihl maul is apparently 6.6 pounds. 8 pounds sounds heavy!

    By hand Cory. I had borrowed a 27 ton splitter when I was scrounging cotton wood. Fir and lodgepole seem to split so nice that it makes a hydraulic splitter seem slower than hell. Split everything with my Stihl maul now. It's inside tonight so I can oil it.
