BanjoBens site is a good place to start. I've been a nember there for several years. Tony Wray was playing at that festival in Missouri we were just at. He is an awesome picker. He did a lesson on Bens site a year or so back. I've taught banjo for a little over 15 years. I'd be glad to help...
I thought I recognized parts of the progression. Not a lot of songs go to the 4 then it's minor. When I hear a song I usually can think of several that are the same progression or close to it. Sometimes it's hard to play a song with the same progression and not make it sound like another song...
Sometimes it gets a little hectic. I was in 5 groups but had to cut back a little when I got married. Two of the groups have a weekly practice and several shows a month. The other group only does shows. They don't really ever practice. And it shows but they have fun.
Congrats Fiddler. Sounds like a heck of a group. I've got blisters on 3 fingers try to get in shape for February. Busy bass month. I'm in 3 different groups full time. Even then I still want to play more. We've only done one show in December. We've got a UCP benefit tomorrow that we...
Get to go to Louisiana this weekend to pick and spend time with Little Roy and Lizzie for a couple days. Super banjo picker. Been there several years in a row. His middle sister just passed away so wasn't sure if he was coming in.

Fiddler, are you talking about running your bass into the system? If so, I used to do it quite a bit. Doesn't really hurt anything at normal levels but if you turn the system up too loud the bass seems to mess with the higher notes. Not too bad but enough you will notice it.
Yeah. Our guys tend to drop back to a certain speed on every song no matter where it starts. I don't mind speeding up a little but I hate to slow down. The other guy that was on bass would slow every song down. Which made it sound like I was speeding up on the banjo. No that I'm on bass I...
