    The Official Random Video Thread!

I heard an NPR report just this morning from some AI image creation specialists that said it can be very difficult to tell now. I dunno, grain of salt...but I am clueless. How did you "just know"?

    New pull start handles

In another thread elsewhere on the site I lamented my increasing difficulty at times starting my 064. Due mostly to arthritic hands and decreased hand strength coupled with the lack of compression release on an 85cc saw. I have my bad days and my better days. The kickback can hurt, besides...

In this case I saw these vids on twitter and Grok confirmed it. But generally you just know.

How can you tell, @Mick! The tech is getting so good these days...and I'll readily admit to not being suspicious enough.

    Wall of Shame: Wannabe Experts

To be clear, how do you all read the weight distribution of That tree? Not How does one read the weight distributing of A tree?

    Wall of Shame: Wannabe Experts

I mentioned something you may or may not have read...basket-ing the rope through a crotch and portawrapping both legs, together, way more than doubles the strength of a single-leg line with a knotted termination. A tensionless hitch is better than a R-Bowline, but requires up-close setting, not...

Double-bagging!! You end up with a weight in the middle of the TL, and able to control the weight from 2 sides instead of 1.

I'm no sling maker. Cable swages that I'm used to have 2 holes for the cable and a compression clamp. I watched them make an eye and eye for me, but can't remember is it was untwisted, then retwisted strands for the eye, then fit with the compression fitting. I don't have my truck here to look.

Is this failed tree ID'ed as oak?

My oaks are live oaks. Very strong, hard, rigid, brittle when dead. Pretty much like everything in the desert except pine. Spiral interlocking grain. Watching other people’s regular oaks, they don’t seem like a big deal.

How was your hinge thickness, shape, species and wood quality? Did the hinge rip from lifting instead of rotation?

    Exercise

Offset weights require much greater core stabilization to prevent spinal bending compared to a uniformly loaded backpack.

    Exercise

Started going on Saturday mornings to a local F3 group. Light weight with many reps in a short time seems to be the thing they do. Add some running in there as well. My arms will probably hurt for another day or so. Legs aren’t to bad this week. I’m off for two weeks at the end of the year so...
