    How'd it go today?

Cutting the trees wasn't quite as much fun as I was hoping, but it was still better than surveying. The goats were hanging around of course. Little assholes spilled a brand new bottle of canola oil. Knocked it off the truck while I was cutting, and the cap came off. They're like cats. Get into...

Boss texted me and said some pines went down at work, and to bring a saw tomorrow, so that's pretty exciting. First day at work in a week, and I'll have something fun to do :^)

I just drag my finger over the tooth. You can tell how sharp it is by the way it feels on the skin.

I've got a 362. For a truck saw, I could do a lot worse than a cs400. That's what I'd buy given the choice. Small enough to tuck out of the way, but enough power to get some real work done. I'm giving /some/ thought to buying another 355 as a truck saw. I can fit one of those in a cat litter...

One bit of advice I can give you regarding treework is get in shape! You have some time before the show starts, and I'd take advantage of it. You're smart enough to quickly learn how to do the technical aspects of whatever company you end up does, but there's no quick way to adapt to...

    How'd it go today?

Went out this morning to finish splitting the ash I removed with maul+wedges. It was the weird pieces that wouldn't split with an axe. I didn't get very far, I've never had wood that was harder to split. It's all confused stringy grain. Just getting a wedge set took several attempts. It would...

Maybe a motorcycle could supplement the truck in better weather. Fairly cheap, and easy on gas.

Not sure what the workflow is supposed to be, but shouldn't there be a patent application in there somewhere?

Good luck Kaveman! You'll be fine with the stuff you're in charge with, but I hope the interview leads to a job for you.

The white clover I'm putting all over the yard I got from a local farm supply. It was almost $100 for 10#; more expensive than last year. The crimson clover I got from amazon. I think it was 1# of seed. I wanted that more targeted cause it grows tall. I don't remember what I paid, but it wasn't...

    How'd it go today?

I took a gamble and planted some clover seed today. Night time lows are still threatening freezing, but I'm thinking it won't get that cold anymore this season. I want the seeds to get an early start, and it's supposed to rain the next couple days. I still have plenty more in case something...

Did you try a linux disk? The image I linked above also has the testdisk suite, and it will recover data barring a hardware issue, but it isn't friendly to use, or explain it's use on a forum. You'd have to read the docs.

Here's a link to an older version of PartedMagic. It's a distro oriented towards system rescue. Download it(1.7gb), write it to usb, then boot to it. Read about here, or buy a more updated version... https://partedmagic.com/ https://mega.nz/file/wVFAyQKI#GFUHDrQbd1DnRHvkqwxqFId9UT3b0kaS8PC1z_QKYYU

Get better soon David! Knotty, your files are still probably on the drive, and are probably fine. A data only drive dying during a windows upgrade is highly suspect. It's most likely windows being stupid. Stephen's suggestion of a bootable gnu/linux usb is excellent.

Boss found this on a job today, so now it's mine... Seymour Smith & Son out of Conn. Also marked "Bell System". Must be pretty old. Any of you know anything about it? Maybe compatibility with something modern?
