Im sure pulling at an angle with the ground it could pull a lot, pulling from up a tree not so much. Everything needs weight for traction.

IMO you have to do just like any other job/cut, weigh the risk with the production. I see a lot of videos online of big picks coming off completely balanced. Looks great but I just think shit that must have taken 1/2 hour to rig. I would rather take a smaller pick and allow leeway for a bit of...

Fiddler, crane work like anything takes practice to get smooth etc. this was his first crane job, I think he did a great job. Plus imo too much emphasis is put on totally balanced picks. As long as you are well within your chart who cares if it moves a bit?? Get er done!!

I understood it that he cut trees ahead of time so they could dry as trees then chip. The power co. holds onto wet chips till periods of high demand so they can burn a huge burn so as to burn the wetter chips.

Wow Stig so if my math is correct for every load of chips on my big chip truck (27 yards) I would get about $600 :|: I pay to get rid of it.... Today was going well, nice weather, no frozen bolts, until we realized the $570 seal kit for my swivel was short by 4 teflon seals. Shoot. We could...

It wasn't disclosed, when it showed up that was one of the first things I noticed was that leak. It has gotten a lot worse in the past month. I have about 4 more crane jobs on the books and would have liked to have got them out the way before tearing into it but I am embarrassed to use it now as...

I was stocked that I could fit the crane in the shop period, I want to keep her there for the winter months with a lil heat on to keep her cozy. 20 year old crane, she needs a lot of TLC I think. Next thing I want to address is start replacing all the plastic air lines. What I really need to...

Today I took the electric swivel off in preparation for tomorrow dropping the hydro one. Geez had to take off something like 30 wires today and pull them through the center of the hydro swivel. I sure hope we got it all straight with our tagging system of this pig may never move again. Other...

Cory good idea on the trash can lid, I bought a kiddie paddling poll but it was a pia to haul around. Problem with my leak is it is right over the drive shaft so in transit it gets flung all over the place Soon to be fixed

So far so good other than our huge hydraulic leak. You know it's bad when we show up with a tarp, a drain pan, bottle of dish soap and a bucket of sawdust. Crane is in my shop now ready for me to drop the "swivel" for resealing

FFZ, don't know much about the trans yet, it is electronically controlled. Its a Clark 28825 not a ZF, well that being said maybe they merged, not sure. Just pulled the crane in my shop (tight freakin fit) as I have a bad leak from the "swivel" so am going to start tearing that down. Need to...

We usually roll with one other person, sometimes my wife sometimes somebody else. They pretty much just undo the chains for a few picks and then I come down and jump on the wheel loader and clean up. We have done a few with just the 2 of us, I make a cut then come down take off the hooks put it...

We have done a bunch of big trees already with it and I have to say it has gone unbelievably well. I feel more comfortable working with Robbie in this crane than I did with my old crane op with 40 years experience on his 17 ton telex boom truck. We were always working at the limit back then...
