On one of the family farms in Kansas. My aunt and uncles house. Two story ol wood beauty. Tornado jumped right over the house and tore into the earthen barn made of bolders and earth in the side of the hill right near it. Bolders the size of a vw bug. Picked them up and placed them in the barn...
These Little buggers are everywhere right now.

Kinda like orange trees...
Might be those blue beetle bastards. Had my fill of them this year.
Or a mite.
Spray with some neem oil mixture and see what happens. Some fish emulsion and superthrive never hurts see if the tree needs some nutrients to help ward them off
Slacking the rope prior to the pull is a risky move. Even with wedges, that hinge could fail. If you are unsure of your pull, and think you need "a run at it", might consider a 2:1 if possible.
Not trying to be critical, just cautious.
SRT 1 TIP did about 1/2 the tree. Second acscent and TIP did 1/4 or so and the I got too hot. The tree does not have a great center tie in. Looks better than it is for that. Tossing a line in each section with 3 ascents was going to be more efficient. Especially since you need to really remove...
It's been on her list and it's a really nice Blue oak in the front yard. Stands out.
Been so busy cleaning up storm damage and trying to keep ahead of mistletoe that this one always got back burnered. Now I can just run around the house every couple of years until more die or something.
Virgin prune. Just dead wood for the most part. Still have one side toward the street to do. Hit 102 at 1 today so I decided a cool morning will suffice to finish. There about every month anyway.
Before
Yeah, a porta john and a carved bear from a tree left at 8 feet.
They were remodeling the house. Porta john for the crew. I was removing all its shade.. lol
Big foot was more to the right out of frame
