I save some for guys I know. But I rarely keep some for projects. Most the time, i have enough projects on my plate.
Just wanted to try my hand at it. My step dad made me a walnut stock for my daisy bb gun when i was a kid. Stock got broken during a family trip. Something I will always cherish...
So, I was masticating that property a while back. I found a chunk of probably a live oak root crown. Looked like some interesting grain in it. So today I took my band saw and sliced some of the rough edges off. Im thinking I might try my hand at making a pistol grip for one of my revolvers.
So, some 16' 2x6 came home today. A few 2x4 and some 4x4.
We had a good start on 2x4 and 2x6 8- 10 foot long from some logs we hauled home. More to come.

He asked for 4 of them. Went over kill. But he's a good friend and can cut what he wants from the blank if he finds grain he likes in each one. Enough in each blank for at least the handle and fore taper (?)
