Is there point where coppicing will kill them?
On a smaller scale....winter wheat will tolerate repeated grazings....up until the plant enters the "boot" stage.
At that point grazing will pretty much kill it.
In the US its called " i am tired of those gawddamn sickly trees"
I felled a monster...probably 4 to 5 inch DBH, ash behind the shop. Did the same thing now that I think about it.
I looked up coppicing....yep. I guess thats what happened. Never thought you could help a tree by cutting...

We had some green ash trees up at Dads that were crappy. Not a bit of green growth anywhere.
They pruned them right at ground level......and the stupid things started sending up shoots.
Some trees like a little abuse I guess....
We have not been informed that we have to change tactics at this time.
The fire service is a steady by jerks kind of outfit.
Currently, we approach a burning car from the sides. Full PPE including SCBA.
