    Wood stove heat

I've read up on them, it has a bypass baffle up top that is used only when charging/ lighting it off, it's usually closed, forcing the smoke back down through the bed of coals. The air intake is designed to fuel both the wood bed and the secondary burn. Basically its a downdraft gasifier...

    Wood stove heat

Alright, I've found some other stoves, and might be buying one today. Anyone heard of a Vermont castings downdrafter? The one in question has both a blower and a water coil, so with that i can definitely heat my whole house. I guess it was an early attempt to be efficient, cause you force the...

    Wood stove heat

That's all I've ever seen personally. You will be fine with the sheet metal finger seam single wall up to it. Hell even in Peoria the menards store has it in stock, 5 bucks for a 3 foot section or something like that. They even have adjustable 90s so you can do any angle without the actual...

    Wood stove heat

Double or triple wall through the roof and above the roof tho right? Welded seams are kinda overkill, and that's coming from me lol. You absolutely have to have either or, both by code and for safety, and to prevent chimney fires from increased creosote caused by condensation and the wind.

    Wood stove heat

I might have to look into those some more. The whole ventless thing really throws me for a loop tho, like that can't be a good thing, and reading more shows humidity and air quality issues. I've had buddies build and setup very ambitious systems, I'm talking multiple heating buildings and...

    Wood stove heat

The problem lies in the fact that if i weld up a stove to use in the house, insurance won't cover me in a fire, no matter that i literally weld pressure piping all day. I could build anything i wanted, but not anything inside. So the more i think about it the more I'm thinking outdoor and then...

    Wood stove heat

Yeah I might have to look into whipping up an outdoor one after all.

    Wood stove heat

I actually was considering a steam system if i did the outdoor boiler, apparently I'm allowed to do quite a bit before i have to get inspected. I do that commercially for a living so honestly it would be cool, no pumps needed until after the heat exchanger, and it opens up other possibilities as...
